One Frame, Three Ways: Styling the Josh Swivel Chair by CR Laine
With its graceful swivel base, tailored profile, and generous proportions, the Josh Swivel Chair by CR Laine works equally well as a statement piece and as a functional staple. Comfortable enough for everyday use and refined enough to anchor a carefully considered room, Josh invites personalization at every turn. To show just how far this chair can go, we asked three of our Design Consultants to imagine their own version. From a sun-drenched sunroom layered in blue to a cozy sitting area built for a girl who’s still growing into her style, each designer brings a completely different perspective to the same versatile frame. Read on to see how Diana, Julie and Amy would style the Josh Swivel Chair.
Diana’s Take: Warm, Grounded, and Collected
Diana’s version of the Josh Swivel Chair was inspred by the wooded surroundings of Foundry Manor, where U-Fab’s collaborative design was featured as part of the 2026 RSL Designer Show House. Her selections for the pair of chairs in the Living Room feel rooted and warm, built around a palette of green and blush with layered texture throughout. She chose Vision Oscoda in Sorbet from Valdese Weavers for the chair bodies, a textural herringbone with a color palette that reads as both refined and inviting. Accent pillows in pink velvet, finished with Pleated Tape in Heron from Thibaut, introduce a subtle contrast. Drapery panels in Thibaut’s Albero soften the windows and echo the organic, woodland feeling of the space, while Fabricut’s metallic Bastien wallpaper reflects light downward into the space. The paint color throughtout is Benjamin Moore’s Cedar Path, a rich green that ties the whole room together and brings in the lush outdoors.
Flanking the seating area, a pair of Stash It Side Tables from Uttermost offer plenty of surface area for storage and display, paired with the Ring Around the Table Lamp in Quarry from Uttermost’s Revelation Collection for a sculptural lighting element.

Julie’s Take: A Sunroom Styled in Blue and Green
Julie set her version of the Josh Swivel Chair in a sunroom with a fresh, timeless blue and green palette. She upholstered the chair in Sumner Indigo from CR Laine, choosing a fabric from the InsideOut performance collection that’s well suited for a sun-filled space. An accent pillow in Paradise Bermuda, also from CR Laine, introduces a complimentary pattern and keeps the palette cohesive. On the walls, Thibaut’s Solsbury Wallpaper in Green brings the garden inside, adding a fresh layered quality to the space.
The accessories Julie selected carry through the blue and green combination with intention. A porcelain White Dove lamp adds a clean note, while a traditional blue and white chinoiserie pot brings the classic pattern that feels right at home in this palette. A whimsical green parrot adds a bit of personality, while the Liz Nesting Tables from Oliver Home provide function and warmth. Julie also suggests an easy layering of books and baskets to orund out the lived-in feel of the space.

Amy’s Take: Playful, Polished, and Built to Grow
Amy imagined the Josh Swivel Chair in a sitting area within a teen or pre-teen girl’s bedroom. Her selections are colorful and full of personality, layered in a way that feels fresh now and has plenty of room to evolve.
She chose Formations Sunset from CR Laine for the chair body, a warm, energetic color that anchors the space. Lumbar pillows (or pillow shams) in Bacchus Mardi Gras from Hamilton Fabrics introduce a playful pattern and a jewel-toned palette. Custom drapery panels in Flowers of Paradise in Punch from Swavelle/Mill Creek add movement and a bold floral pattern that ties the color story together. The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore’s White Dove, a clean, versatile backdrop that lets the fabrics in the space take center stage.
A green chinoiserie lamp brings in a traditional note, while white bedding keeps the space feeling light and livable. The result is a room full of fun punches of color that can grow with her.

Why the Josh Swivel Chair Works Every Time
The beauty of the Josh Chair lies in its adaptability. Its swivel base makes it just as functional as it is beautiful, and because it’s customizable, it becomes a genuine reflection of the pace and the person it’s designed for. These three interpretations couldn’t look more different, and that’s the point!
