What to Expect During Your In-Home Consultation with U-Fab Interiors

Booking an in-home consultation is the fastest way to move a project from idea to plan. Here's a clear look at what the process involves, from your first inquiry through the visit itself.

Fabric samples and a paint swatch arranged over an architectural blueprint, representing the preparation and planning that goes into a U-Fab Interiors in-home design consultation.

Before we arrive, we want to know as much about your space as possible: what you're working with, what you love, and what you're hoping to change. The more context you can give us upfront, the more prepared we can be when we walk through the door.

Before We Arrive

The process starts with a conversation. Once you reach out, we'll gather some information about your space and what you're hoping to accomplish, so we can arrive prepared rather than starting from scratch.

"As much information you can give us upfront is helpful in us planning and preparing to come visit you," says Diana Vicenti, U-Fab Interiors design consultant and in-home specialist. Photos of the space are especially useful, as are any details about what you're working with: a rug you want to build around, existing window treatments, a piece of furniture with sentimental value. The more we know going in, the more focused and productive the visit will be.

You can start the process several ways: through the consultation request form on our Design Services page, by emailing Diana at diana@u-fab.com or Amy at amy@u-fab.com, or by calling the showroom directly. We'll connect to discuss your project, then schedule a time to come to you.

During the Visit

Your consultation is up to 1.5 hours of uninterrupted, one-on-one time with your designer. We arrive with samples in hand and a working knowledge of your space, ready to move through decisions efficiently.

What we can address in a single visit is broader than most clients expect. Spatial planning is often where we begin: what furniture arrangement makes sense, what scale works for the room, whether a sectional or a sofa-and-chairs configuration serves the space better. From there, we work through the layers. Fabrics and upholstery options. Window treatments, both functional and decorative. Paint colors and wallpaper. Rugs, lighting, and accessories that pull a room together.

"What type of window treatments do you need, functioning or non-functioning? Do we need to consider sun exposure or privacy?" Diana explains. These are the kinds of practical questions that shape how a room actually lives. We also look at the bigger decisions: whether a cherished piece is worth reupholstering or whether it's time to invest in something new, and how to mix styles in a way that feels collected rather than mismatched.

We'll take measurements and templates as needed, so that whatever we specify is sized and specified correctly for your space.

U-Fab Interiors design consultant Diana Vicenti measures a window during an in-home consultation, ensuring accurate specifications for custom window treatments.

Accurate measurements are the foundation of a custom project done right. While we're in your home, we take detailed measurements and templates so that every window treatment, furniture piece, and fabrication order is specified correctly for your space.

What You Walk Away With

By the end of your consultation, you'll have a clear direction: a plan for the room that accounts for your style, your lifestyle, and the pieces that matter to you. "You don't have to give us all those answers," Diana says of the early stages. "We may help you figure that out after we start the conversation." That collaborative process is how a room goes from feeling stuck to feeling like it has a path forward.

From a single statement chair to a floor-to-ceiling room transformation, U-Fab Interiors has the resources, the craftsmanship, and the experience to see a project through from concept to completion. An in-home consultation is where that process begins.
