One Frame, Three Ways: Styling the Julian Chair by Wesley Hall
With its tailored, soft-winged barrel back and classic dressmaker skirt, the Julian Chair by Wesley Hall balances traditional elegance with everyday comfort. Its compact footprint makes it equally at home in a cozy nook a bright sunroom, or as a pair framing a fireplace. Like so many iconic Wesley Hall frames, the Julian can be customized with fabric, trim, and finishing details to create a look that feels entirely your own.
To show just how versatile this frame can be, we asked three of our Design Consultants to imagine their own take on the Julian. From rich navy to botanical prints and warm, layered neutrals, each designer brings a distinct perspective to the same classic silhouette, showing just how easy it can be to personalize your furniture for your own space.
Read on to see how Emily, Cherisse and Heather would style the Julian chair in their own spaces.
Emily’s Take: Moody Modern Glam
Emily transformed the Julian into a sophisticated, tailored focal point, balancing deep jewel tones with crisp contrast and playful color. She selected Jubilee Marine fabric by Wesley Hall for the chair, pairing the rich navy body with Ventura Domino in Black/Gray for the bottom trim and coordinating lumbar pillow. A vibrant trim (Define in Aqua by Fabricut) adds contrast along the chair and pillow with a colorful detail.
Bold Rose Floral in Chartreuse by Fabricut brings energy to the space, while the warm wood tones of the Mesa Side Table by Oliver Home helps ground the palette. An Origami Bird Floor Lamp by Chelsea House adds sculptural interest, while a Vista Blue Vase (Chelsea House) and Absolutely Chanel by Catherine Örmen complete the look with collected finishing touches.

Cherisse’s Take: Garden Fresh & Airy
Cherisse envisioned the Julian in a bright, elegant sunroom or light-filled living space, embracing botanical patterns and organic textures for a fresh, inviting setting.
She chose Lotus Garden Spa by P/Kaufmann to cover the chair, allowing the vibrant botanical print to become the focal point. The mix of soft aqua, sage green and white creates a light and refreshing palette, while Shang Extra Fine Sisal wallpaper in Bahama by Thibaut adds subtle texture to the walls without competing with the floral upholstery.
A classic Alameda Serving Cart by Oliver Home brings warm wood and brass into the space, while the Imperial Ottoman by CR Laine, finished in Moore and Giles’s Mont Blanc leather, adds a rich textural contrast. Underfoot, the CED-01 rug in Bark/Natural by Loloi provides a tailored foundation that complements the garden-inspired palette.

Heather’s Take: Rich Warmth
Heather created a cozy, layered space centered around warm neutrals, tactile textures and heritage-inspired patterns.
She selected Sea Folly Fawn by Wesley Hall for the Julian, a refined cream and taupe micro-stripe that highlights the chair’s graceful silhouette. A coordinating lumbar pillow in Keyhaven Chocolate by Wesley Hall introduces a rich botanical pattern and deeper tones, adding contrast without overwhelming the subtle stripe.
The REN-13 Pink/Multi rug by Loloi anchors the space with a vintage-inspired palette of blush, terracotta, and muted blue. A sculptural Head in the Clouds table lamp from Revelation by Uttermost adds warm metallic detail and a final layer of visual interest.
