Custom, Made Simple: A Guide to Wesley Hall's Signature Elements Program

Custom furniture can feel like a big undertaking. Where do you even start? What decisions actually matter? And how do you get from "I know what I want" to a finished piece that fits your room perfectly?

That's exactly what Wesley Hall's Signature Elements program was designed to solve. It takes the guesswork out of ordering custom upholstery and replaces it with a clear, step-by-step process that puts you in control of every meaningful detail. The result is a piece built for your space, your comfort, and your aesthetic, without the overwhelm.

Here's how it works.

What Is the Signature Elements Program?

Signature Elements is Wesley Hall's custom upholstery program, available across their full range of sofas, loveseats, chairs, chairs-and-a-half, ottomans, sectionals, and sleepers. Rather than selecting a pre-configured piece and hoping it works, you build your furniture from the ground up by choosing each design element individually.

The program is organized around the components that have the greatest impact on how a piece looks and feels: the base, the arm, the back, the seating depth, the cushion fill, and the upholstery. Each of those categories comes with a range of options, so you can create something that reads as tailored and traditional, relaxed and casual, or anywhere in between.

The Elements, Explained

Piece and Size

The first decision is what you're building. Signature Elements is available as a loveseat, apartment sofa, medium sofa, long sofa, extra-long sofa, chair, chair-and-a-half, ottoman, sectional, or sleeper. For sofas and sectionals, seating depth comes in two options: standard (39 inches) or deep (42 inches). If you love to sink in, the deep option is worth considering from the start, as it affects the overall scale of the piece and should factor into your room planning.

Base Style

The base is what gives the piece its foundation and sets the first visual impression. Wesley Hall offers multiple base styles ranging from sleek modern legs to more traditional or decorative options. The base you choose will determine whether the piece reads as lightweight and airy or more grounded and substantial.

Arm Style

The arm is one of the most visually defining elements of any upholstered piece. Wesley Hall offers a wide range of arm profiles, from the clean, straight lines of a track arm to more sculpted options like a cap arm, bevel arm, or envelope arm. Arm height and width also vary by style, which affects both the overall proportion of the piece and how it functions day-to-day.

Back Style

The back style shapes the silhouette and the comfort profile. Options range from tailored bordered backs to softer, more casual configurations. This is a detail that significantly affects the personality of the piece: a bordered back reads polished and structured; a softer back reads more relaxed and approachable.

Upholstery: Fabric, Leather, or Your Own

This is where the piece truly becomes yours. Wesley Hall works with an extensive library of fabrics and leathers, ranging from performance-friendly textured weaves to refined velvets, linens, and full-grain leathers. Customers may also bring their own material (COM) for a truly one-of-a-kind result.

Decorative Details

Beyond the primary structural choices, Signature Elements also allows for decorative customization including nail head trim, wood finish selection, and leg finish options in both standard and decorative styles. These finishing touches can make the difference between a piece that simply fills a room and one that completes it.

How We Make It Easy at U-Fab Interiors

Ordering custom furniture is a significant investment, and we take that seriously. Our team is well-versed in the Signature Elements program and genuinely enjoys helping customers navigate it. Here's what working with us looks like in practice.

We start by understanding your space: where the piece is going, what else is in the room, and how you use it day-to-day. From there, we walk you through each design element, explaining the options and helping you decide what's right for your needs. Once the structural decisions are made, we'll help you select the perfect fabric or leather, pulling samples so you can see your choices in your home. When every detail is finalized, we take it from there, placing the order, keeping you updated throughout the process, and coordinating delivery through our in-house delivery team.
