My husband was kind enough to take the photos for the next home tour, while installing the custom window treatments in this jaw dropping amazingly rustic farmhouse in Madison County, Virginia. When I say rustic, I mean… almost like a museum this home is so historically rustic and beautiful. The “rustic” that is in big box stores is no where to be seen in this outstanding character filled home. Wood beams in every direction, big planked hardwoods, a functioning fireplace in the kitchen! This home is unique in the best of ways, and I have to say I’m extremely jealous of my husband for getting to take these photos! (See fabric list at the bottom of this post)
Welcome to paradise, a beautiful country farm house set in Madison County.
Holly and her husband (the oh-so-fabulous homeowners) and Kendall wanted to design a space that was eclectic, layered and collected. Adding relaxed roman shades behind the window treatments in the living room made the space feel so finished and the fabrics chosen for this space brings a softness to the very rugged room.
I especially love their choice of the bold blue ikat chair perfectly pulling colors from the roman shades while playing with pattern and scale.
Holly is a talented water-color artist. The space above is her studio. Who wouldn’t feel inspired to paint in a space like that? The textured circle fabric on the window treatments is one of our best sellers and lovely for draperies. The map fabric found on the handsome leather accent chair is appropriate as Holly and her husband are passionate world travelers and have many asian elements found throughout the home from their years of living abroad.
While U-fab is not really involved in this amazing kitchen, we had to showcase it, as it is that of a dream. I can smell the wood fired pizza coming out of this beautiful kitchen fireplace and the wood grain in the cabinet work is simply stunning.
Upstairs we made a shorter than normal custom headboard to account for the slanted ceilings and found the perfect small scale navy ikat diamond print fabric for the box pleated valances.
The character of the master bedroom was hard to pair up against, but Kendall and Holly’s fabric selections for this space were that of a perfect match. Pleated faux silk draperies farmed with a multicolored banding set on top of a beautiful floral relaxed roman shade. Bold bedding with terra-cotta euro shams, the same floral fabric found in the romans, and a fun custom blue bolster to ground the bedding and tie it all together. And how about the entire wall of doors? The round door is one that I imagine in a castle.
The soft yellow guest room, is probably my favorite in the house (if I had to choose). The custom faux-romans are inside mounted to showcase the beautiful wood window frames. The custom camel back headboard has a soft matlasse that brings a country-chic feeling. The elephant fabric found on the accent chair gives a nod to the homeowners’ beloved Asian influence. This room is simply lovely.
I’ll finish with a photo of the stunning view. I am so glad I didn’t photograph this home, because I would never want to leave!
